Yesterday Zambezi East Member of Parliament, Brian Kambita rose on the floor of the House to question the Speaker whether the continued absence of Chawama Member of Parliament, Tasila Lungu, from the August House indicates that she does not intend to return and fulfil her parliamentary duties, hence denying the ‘good’ people of Chawama effective representation.
Kambita cited recent court filings made by former First Lady, Esther Lungu, in the Pretoria High Court, whereby she allegedly stated that her family does not intend to return to Zambia due to safety concerns.
He noted that Ms. Lungu as a member of the family involved in the legal matter, may be personally affected by the said position.
In response to this, Speaker of the National Assembly, Nelly Mutti reserved ruling to a later date.
What do we make of this?
Every occupation is governed by rules and regulations….you can’t just pitch up at work whatever time you you feel like or stay away from the same as much as you want! We recently lost our mother in Zambezi, our nephew who happened to work as a security guard returned to his job only to find that it has been filled up by someone else!
Compassionate leave has a limit; one can not be on leave in perpetuity at the expense of their responsibility. The people of Chawama deserve adequate and effective representation in parliament! A ‘no show MP’ is likely to deprive them of their share of the national cake!
Isn’t this the same Tasila who was away to America for a long time until the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) where she was wanted for interrogations raised the red flag? Tasila can’t eat the cake and have it! She has to choose between representing the people of Chawama or mourning her father till eternity.
To those of you that believe in the Bible, doesn’t Mathew 8:22 warn us that, “Let the dead bury themselves…”
Until next time….

Sort out the economy please. I am a chawama resident, and my first priority is for the cost of living to come down. Whether Tasilla is present in parliament or not does not put food on my table. Loadshedding is 19hrs a day, will loadshedding end with Tasila sitting in parliament. Be seriuos for once
Work on Bread-and-butter issues first. Tasila issues later please. Be reminded that you are almost coming to the end of your term, you have no time left. 14hrs has even passed now
The matter is active in court you are the people making HH unpopular and look a bad person.you are not helping the situation.
Ubupuba ba princess. Nomba ubu bupuba bwafukwi? Is the so called king as hopeless?
Perpetuity and Normalcy.
Government has made it normal to mourn this long and perpetueted lies during this lengthy funeral. A funeral goes on for as long as you have not buried. At no time did the family say they want their alleged cases quashed. Even if they stayed in SA, the Zambia courts would still adjudicate in absentia or attending in person. Umulandu ta ubola. So ba UPND, stop attempting mixing oil and water, it won’t help you at all.
Whilst I dont support her is she expected to just leave her mothers side at such a time, This is not a normal case of absence,
You have sued the family and prevented the family from burying and you expect her to come to parliament to listed to Nelly. Aikona man.
Its like even Lusaka Times is excited to publish such articles…..God help us.
Plz ba guy ain’t no time blame messengers. Fo’shizzle, news gon’ reach peeps, ma man. How? Maybe thru tha TIMES, tha 411 info, excey, u know!
Being an MP is a job and it has rules. You cannot stay away from work for one month and expect to still have your job. Frankly, she does not appear to take the MP job seriously and that constituency needs better representation from a neutral standpoint.
In that case, you can take the seat if you hoped to trade it with the funeral or his father’s death.
He had to forego his retirement by refusing to take the bait. His father told you to keep your crumbs. He couldn’t let you crumble and dismember the PF party that sponsored him to presidency. UPND has k!!!ed the opposition and ecl died preserving it and is certainly a Martyr.
This is what happens when you fail. They want the lawyer’s skin after their legal case seen not to go anywhere. They report him to Laz seek to confiscated his practicing licence.
They now want her to leave her mother to come for work at parliament. UPND never ceases to amaze me.
Another MP who survived an accident was called out by UPND to report for work dispite the injuries. Some people can be this sad&istic.
First they sue the family and the lawyer.
Then they sue the South African government representative. Oh, again, they quickly run back to strike out the foreign minister from the suit. They now fold their arms awaiting judgement. No, they are still attacking the person of everyone crossing their path. Sure they lost from the beginning to the end. Meanwhile, they are tinkering with the Chawama seat as a bargain. This is a typical example of never say die. Too sad&istic. Kaping’a, do you know why she reserved the ruling? Consultations. Owing to the gravity of it all, the speaker is avoiding further entanglements like those she is currently nursing.
Bitter people but its the truth. She has been outside the country for almost a year.A job is a job and she has to respect it.They are creating unnecessary problems for themselves instead of burying Lungu. The family said that they are not coming to Zambia..Even if you are a pf cadre on this one don’t be just used out of hatred
Haamusonda – The only bitter person here is you. Why do you bring other matter that are inconsequential. You want to mount pressure on the young lady to instill fear so that you get what you want. Just chill and relax. The dead body may not have biosense but is chilling in South Africa. Why can’t you the living with five senses do likewise and keep your lane? Take a chill pill!
